Freelance Work  /  Creative Direction and Design for  Blaze Partners   /  Awarded Silver in Corporate Collateral at the 2025 Broderson Awards
Maine Outdoor Brands, together with the Maine Office of Outdoor Recreation and a multi-organization Core Team, partnered with Blaze Partners to bring a 10-year strategy for Maine’s $3.4B outdoor recreation economy to life. Backed by research and community input from national consulting firm Fourth Economy, the initiative needed a way to make complex economic goals engaging and accessible for policymakers, business leaders, and industry advocates. Blaze came to me with the task of designing a visual roadmap that could clarify strategy, inspire action, and rally support statewide.
My aim for the Maine Outdoor Economy Roadmap was to transform the10-year strategy into an engaging, easy-to-digest visual guide. With a refined layout, custom icons, and vibrant infographics, it makes intricate economic goals approachable, clear, and impactful.
The impact didn’t stop at the Roadmap. The color palette and brand identity extended across social media graphics, a website landing page, printed mailings and invites, custom presentation graphics, and event signage. Unveiled at the Maine Outdoor Economy Summit, this design system didn’t just look good on paper—it helped rally stakeholders, spark conversations, and will drive real investment in Maine’s outdoor economy for years to come.
That momentum carried to the State House, where Maine Outdoor Brands shared the Roadmap with legislators, Governor Mills, and industry leaders during their annual Hall of Flags gathering. The event highlighted priority legislation while sparking dialogue around both challenges and opportunities in Maine’s $3 billion outdoor recreation sector. Seeing the Roadmap in action—framing conversations among decision-makers and partners ranging from L.L.Bean to the Appalachian Mountain Club—was a powerful example of design shaping policy and amplifying impact.
The Roadmap was honored with a Silver Award in Corporate Collateral at the 2025 Broderson Awards, Maine’s longest-running recognition of creative excellence. This acknowledgment placed the project alongside some of the year’s strongest design work in the state and underscored its role in shaping the conversation around Maine’s outdoor recreation economy.
